High-altitude and travel medicine

An ever-increasing number of people, among them mountain-climbers, trekkers and sightseers, spend a considerable amount their leisure time in high-altitude regions or in countries with different climates. The number of work-related assignments abroad is also growing.
There is an associated danger of health problems which might jeopardise the stay in these regions, and not just for people with pre-existing conditions such as heart disease.
High-altitude medicine deals with the health impact of staying at high altitudes. For me, it is closely intertwined with travel medicine, which is concerned with prevention, for instance through immunisation, as well as with the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses contracted while travelling.
I am trained in high-altitude and travel medicine and have been able to acquire a great deal of practical experience through extensive professional travel as well as by scaling various 6,000 m peaks in Asia and South America. By working extra-professionally for a travel emergency service for many years, I saw and experienced many countries and regions first-hand, including endemic illnesses and local healthcare services.
I would be happy to advise you in all matters prevention and treatment for high-altitude-associated conditions, including acclimatisation and training strategies. I can also provide advice about recommended vaccines, malaria prophylaxis and hygiene measures for both short and long-term stays abroad.
I am looking forward to meeting you in my clinic.
Please make sure to bring your completed questionnaire.
